WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR DRESS...
Now that your dress has arrived, there are a few things to keep in mind as you unpack your items:
Unpacking
All dresses bought online are tightly packed into small boxes and placed in a plastic bag and turned inside out to avoid damage to the dress. Your JSB dress has been custom-made to your order and hand-inspected by one of our staff before being packed for shipping. Because your dress has never been steamed or worn before, you should not expect your dress to look as great as it does in the photos when it comes straight out of the box. It is normal for it to appear flat, wrinkled, and compact at first. Be very careful about handling your dress, make sure your hands are clean and you remove it from the box to a clean area to avoid staining the dress.
Sizing & Alterations
When you first try on your dress, you should check to make sure it fits properly. Most dresses will require some alterations to ensure it fits exactly to your body type as expected. Your local seamtress can make these adjustments and in most cases can also steam your dress for you as well. If your dress needs to be let out in certain areas, you should bring in your extra fabric. If you did not order extra fabric when your ordered your dress and you require some, please use the ‘contact us' form on our website to let us know, and we will create an order for you.
Steaming
Until your dress has been properly steamed, any fabric ruching (pronounced ‘rooshing') will appear wrinkled and flat. To release the wrinkles from your dress, you must have your dress properly steamed. Do not use an iron as this may cause damage to the fabric.
Fullness & Petticoats
Dress styles with fuller skirts or ruching will not initially look like the pictures that you have previewed on our website when you first take it out of the shipping box. Ruching is a gathering, ruffling, or pleating of the dress fabric into a stylized form or shape. This will adjust once your dress has been steamed and you put it on with your petticoat that has the proper amount of lift to bring out the fullness of your dress skirt.
If you have questions about your order, please use the contact us form on our website.
