There are 4 basic types of Petticoats:
- Exposed tiered crinoline
- Covered tiered crinoline (with a plain skirt)
- Basic hoop-skirt
- Covered hoop-skirt (with a ruffled slip)
So which one do you choose for your dress?
To make it easy, JenniferScott Bridal will provide you with a recommended petticoat style for your dress when you select your dress from our Collections pages. Of course, you can select from any of our styles, however here are some important notes to remember when making a selection:
- EXPOSED TIERED CRINOLINE: You sould choose this style of petticoat for any type of dress with a lot of rushing (gathering). The texturing of the exposed crinoline will help to maintain the look of the rushing.
- COVERED TIERED CRINOLINE (with a plain skirt): This type of petticoat is best for those dresses with more of a sleak design and less rushing. The plain skirt slip on top of the crinoline will give the fabric of your dress a more smooth movement.
- BASIC HOOP SKIRT: This choice is best for dresses with lots of rushing as the texturing of your dress will hide any shaping caused by the hoops. This is also a good option to consider wearing under a traditional crinoline for added lift, comfort, and air flow.
- COVERED HOOPED-SKIRT (with a ruffled slip): Select this option for a more delicate material when you may need to hide any shaping created by the hoops. Also, the added ruffles will help give a little more movement to the bottom of your dress.
When you select your petticoat, you will also be given the option to select between a zippered, drawstring or velcro back. It is important to note that the zippered-back petticoats use exact sizes (in inches), while the draw string and velco backs give you a little more flexibility in sizing.
