Not all brides will choose to wear a traditional veil. Some will opt for a tiara or feathered hair piece instead, and some will choose just a great hairstyle to be that finishing touch.
There are a lot of veils on the market, most of which are a variation of just a few select styles:
- 1, 2 or 3 tier in depth
- Elbow length, waist length, cathedral length
- edging such as ribbon or cord
- Jewelry such as rhinestone or crystal
JenniferScott Bridal offers 8 different veil styles to choose from.
But how do you select the right veil for your dress style?
Generally speaking, you should pick a veil to compliment your dress design. Not all veils will look good with all dresses, no matter how nice they look by themselves.
And unlike the days of past Royalty, over-sized gowns coupled with over-sized veils are not quite as popular or stylish for today's brides.
A bridal gown and its accessories are a fashion statement when paired properly, and can set the tone for your day. Are you looking for a simple, yet elegant look, or are you hoping for the Cinderella-esque effect?
If your dress is simple and elegant with a sheath or mermaid style, then you can really give that over-the-top finishing look with a fuller, multi-teired veil. If your dress is more full and ballgown-style, then a simpler, elbow length veil with one or two teirs will compliment beatifully without it looking over-done.
But whether you select a small or large veil, always remember, you only have one day to wear it, so pick the one that you feel the best in! You are a princess today and your veil is your crowning feature!
